History
Before there is innovation, there must be an impossible dream. Within conservative Christian circles, parents and students unwilling to compromise their standards created a demand for a feasible, affordable alternative for their children.
This demand motivated Verity Institute’s founder, Mr. Trent Thompson, with the support of IBLP’s Dr. Bill Gothard to find a solution. He began by identifying negative aspects within the college-level educational system and filter these aspects through God’s Word. The next challenge was then to create a program where students could develop a worldview focused on knowing and serving the Lord Jesus Christ.
The mission that would change the face of higher education began in 2001, when the school entered the first academic year. Upon the opening of Verity, Trent Thompson prayed that as long as Verity continued to follow in God’s truth it would flourish, but if it ever strayed, God would close its’ doors. Verity’s seal included the words: Wisdom, Service, and Knowledge—words to guide the program’s development.
In many ways, the impossible dream has been realized. Verity Institute is now entering her ninth year of operation, with an alumni base of over 350 students. She continues to overcome obstacles and, with every graduating student, glorifies God for victory over compromise. With His blessing, more successes and benchmarks will be added to an already vivid history.
